Well, I finally got the quilt frame out again and started working on Rebekah's Butterfly quilt. I promised her I would try to finish it by the time she got home. That means I had better make my fingers fly! I don't know why I've been putting it off. I don't like to finish a quilt for some reason. I want them to go on forever, so when I get close to the end, I slow down or come to a complete stop. There must be some psychological reasoning for all of this, but I have no idea what it would be.
I got the catalog this week for the upcoming quilt show in Ontario. I hope to take a class or two again this year. I looked through the class selections carefully reading the descriptions and trying to decide what skills I want to hone in on. Then I went to the computer to watch the newest series of lessons. To my surprise Alex is doing a series on hand quilting. Only the first two lessons are up, but they were just what I needed to get going again.
I forget how therapeutic it is to hand quilt. It is my favorite part of quilting actually. It is painstaking and tedious, but oh so good for the soul. I need the time behind the frame to put my life in perspective. I sit and pray and think about days gone by. I think of old friends and the things I learned from them. I think of new friends and things I have yet to learn. I pray for those I love and for those prayer requests that I have become aware of through the internet. It is a time of prayer and expectation for me.
So, the frame is up, and Rebekah should be home in a month or so. I will finish this quilt, really I will. I promised!
